What kind of organization is SOS (Save Our Services)?
SOS is a
local grassroots organization (read
our mission) and is also registered with the
Office of Campaign and Political Finance as a PAC (see
below).
SOS also
files as a
Ballot Question Committee (BQC)
during election season when we are advocating for a
question on the ballot. We then operate as SOS-BQC, and
per the Office of Campaign and Political Finance we
dissolve the BQC after the election.
What is a PAC?
Political
Action Committees (PACs) are committees that raise and
spend money to support or oppose one or more candidates,
based upon stated principles or interests. Read

Voting at the
Polls and Town Meeting
Why do I have to vote at the polls and Annual Town
Meeting?
It is a
State regulation. Whenever we vote on a monetary
question, a "Yes" at the polls simply means that the
question can be put before the voters at Town Meeting.
Town Meeting must then vote definitively "Yes" or "No"
to allow the Town to spend the money.
What is the difference between Town Meeting and Special
Town Meeting?
The same
requirements hold true for Special Town Meeting as for
Annual Town Meeting. However, articles that were
submitted after the deadline for Annual Town Meeting may
be slated for Special Town Meeting.
